The Art of Animals – Sketch Your Pet
September 11, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
The Art of Animals ~ Sketch your Pet
Animals are one of the hardest things to draw, but they don’t have to be. Artist Mary Lou Herald set out to learn how to draw these precious pets and along the way found a practical approach to not just drawing dogs and cats, but all kinds of mammals. Join her as she passes on her skills and years of accumulating drawing know-how to you.
In this class Herald deconstructs complex animal anatomy and mechanics into basic, understandable components, making drawing your pet your new passion as a beginning art student. The lesson is broken down into these sections:
The Basic Structure of a Mammal
The 4 Main Sections of the Body
Drawing Heads
Drawing Fore Limbs
Drawing Back Limbs
Drawing the Body
Ms. Herald received her art degree from Seton Hill College and previously taught art at Alex Fletcher Memorial Art Center, where she specialized in perspective drawing and pen and ink courses. Herald’s pen and ink drawings have graced exhibits from Pennsylvania to Florida. We are pleased to have her as one of our area artists featured in our August 2019 offerings at HAL.
